POWER PAWS DOG CLUB
Feel the Power!
About us:
A dog powered sports club created in 2010 by Sherry Bedard to teach you about training care and safety as well as exercising and having fun! The main goal of Power Paws Dog Club is to safely have fun.
Power Paws Dog Club is a free membership club in which anyone with or without a dog may join. Training and trails will be at different locations in and around Montreal and members are encouraged to participate and give their opinion on trails, locations and training.
Rules and Regulations:
Power Paws Dog Club’s main concern is safety! Therefore, there are a few regulations that must be followed by members.
- Any dog running in fun runs must at least 2 years of age with a clean bill of health. Dogs under the age of 2 years are more than welcome to attend training sessions as this does not require the dog to over-exert their physical capacities before their physical maturity.
- All members are required to wear a helmet for their safety.
- Aggressive dogs will not be permitted to join in fun runs. During training sessions, an aggressive dog may participate depending on the severity of the aggression. An administrative member will evaluate the aggressive dog and make the final decision concerning the participation of the dog.
- All members are required to advise administrative members if they are bringing a dog they are not familiar with (ie. A new dog or a dog borrowed from a friend or family member). This regulation is put into place to help prevent any accidents due to unforeseen behavior of the unfamiliar dog (ie. Aggression towards certain people or certain dogs).
- All members must keep their dogs on leash at all times as even the best trained dogs can sometimes experience a weak moment and suddenly chase a cat across the street!
- All members are required to keep a minimum distance of 3 feet between their dog and the dogs of other members.
- Each dog is required to have a full body check for injuries to muscles before each run.
- All members are required to carry water for their dogs during runs.
- If a dog shows signs of injury or is unwilling to participate in a fun run, the member must respect the dog and not run the dog.
- All members are required to carry at least one dog boot and an antiseptic cleaning agent for any injury that may occur during a run.
- Fun runs are not open to non-members, but training sessions are.
- All members must be aware of the possible dangers and hazards of the dog powered sport they have chosen.
- All members will be required to carry their membership card with them for any activity with Power Paws Dog Club.
- All members must have proper fitting equipment in good working order.
- Members must be 18 years of age or older to participate in fun runs. Between the ages of 15 to 18 years, a signed document from a legal guardian must be provided.
- Alcohol and mind altering substances will not be permitted.
- Violence toward any person or animal due to training frustrations or arguments will not be tolerated.
Failure to abide by any of the above listed regulations will result in a revocation of membership. Safety is Power Paws Dog Club’s first priority!
***Power Paws Dog Club will not be held responsible for any accidents or injuries that may occur during training sessions or fun runs.
